NOTICE TO ALL MEMBERS

 

Open Art Sessions meet bi-monthly:

Our bi-monthly meetings allow us more opportunities to gather together to observe demonstrations by other artists, share artistic opportunities, helpful critique sessions and the time and space to work on your own art projects with the support and fellowship of like-minded artists and friends.  With two opportunities a month and our other activities we encourage all of you to come and join in the artistic fun.

Open Art Sessions meet monthly:

1ST Friday at Mat-Su College FSM, room 212 FSM Building  2 - 7PM (Demo's and Paint Togethers)

 

3RD Friday at Mat-Su College, room 212 FSM Building  2 - 7PM "Live Models" and Paint Togethers

 2018 Year at a glance

MATSU College 8295 E. College Dr. Palmer, Alaska 99645 Room 212. From 2-7:00 pm Come at anytime, stay the entire time. Bring a snack for yourself or to share. Bring your art supplies and attitude to relax, share your knowledge and learn from others.

 

January 5, 2018

         NO MEETING college closed

January 19:

         Board members be prepared to update the General membership.

         Still Life Display will be arranged for our studio time. Feel free to bring something shiny! Spoons, teapots, platter, glass object, door knob, fruit with shiny peel. stones.

         Open studio.

         **ALSO.... we will be photographing artwork for the upcoming art show, so if you feel you need assistance, to stop by, we can talk about it or take the photos.

 

February 2:

Brief meeting 2:00.

        Critique. 2:15 If you are working on something, and would like your work critiques, bring your WIP (work in progress)

        Open studio.

 

February 16:

March 31st is drop off for the accepted works at our 2018 Juried Art show.

April 1 – 30 is the  2018 Juried Art show. 

Recepton for the  2018 Juried Art show is April 21, 3-7:00 pm .

 April 6: Critique. If you are working on something, and would like your work critiqued, bring your WIP (work in progress) Open studio.

 

April 20: Brief meeting 2:00. Board members be prepared to update the General membership. 2:15 Nancy Angelini Crawford will discuss a bit about pleine aire painting and equipment.

April 21, 3-7:00 pm    Reception for the 2018 Juried Art show is at the Wasilla Museum

 

May 4: Brief meeting 2:00. GUEST ARTIST Judy Vars, Encaustic painting demonstration. Critique. 2:15 If you are working on something, and would like your work critiqued, bring your WIP (work in progress)

May 11: Contact Diana Bland at Artists uncorked : 907-982-2675 or myself 907-631-2584.  : Painting wine glasses to benefit the Palmer museum. The painting days will be: May 11, 4-7 pm     May 19, 4-7 pm    June 8, 2-7 pm

 

June 16, 2018 Saturday 10-4 , with potluck at 1:00 pm Social and BBQ at Matanuska River Park. Please bring a picnic/cook out type potluck food. VFAA will be providing burgers and buns as well as condiments.   Contact Martha Happs with questions. happs@mtainline.net

July 14 , 2018 QUICK DRAW PAINT Alaska WildBird Rehabilitation Center SnowFire Gardens

The Alaska Wild Bird Quick-Draw Benefit

SATURDAY JULY 14th. 

Location: Beautiful Snowfire Gardens-- Wasilla Alaska

Map of Snowfire Gardens off Fairview Loop, Wasilla, AK.

*Artists need to arrive. at 11:00 AM to choose your personal spot to paint Quick Draw starts promptly at 12 Noon- and ends promptly @2PM. All paintings will be sold by silent auction proceeding through the painting process.

*All proceeds go to the Alaska Wild Bird Rescue and Rehab.

 

*Lunch and soft drinks will be provided for the  artists Tents will be available in case of rain

 

*Please plan to use a paint that will dry quickly ( acrylics ?) A ground will be provided for all artists ( canvas or board ) ( for those using watercolors, we ask you to please provide your paper / ground )

 

*Artists need bring: paints / brushes, easels, umbrella, chair, etc.

 

*All artists must register before the deadline of MAY 1, 2018
