My name is Karen Crandall and I have lived in Alaska since 1973. I
have been an artist since 1970 when I started to study art in
college at the University of Nevada. I joined the Alaska Artist
guild in 1974 when the artists were displaying work at the
University Mall. I have always worked with acrylics and lots of
texture calling my acrylic relief.
In 1998 I began to study Printmaking and Watercolor art forms. Since
that time I joined the Alaska Watercolor Society in which I have
been a member since 2001. I have entered my art in many juried shows
and have a painting currently on display at the Anchorage Museum. It
is called Sunset at the Old Glen. The painting is of a brilliant red
and yellow sunset reflected on the Knik River. It will be on display
until February. I love nature of all sorts especially Alaska's
sunsets and wildlife. Aspects of light is an area that I have been
concentrating on. I have my art at several galleries: The Blue
Holloman Gallery/Anchorage, The Girdwood Gallery of Visual Arts
/Girdwood, Arctic Rose Gallery/ Anchorage, and Dancing Leaf
Gallery/Talkeetna. In the month of February my art will be on
display at the Town Square Gallery beginning on the second Saturday.
My art will consist of pastel chalk, acrylic, watercolor, and
printmaking pieces. Another area I plan to experiment with is
collage and watercolor. I hope you will come and see my art at some
of these galleries. ![]() ![]()
